We have Winners!
Best Overall Selfie
Congratulations to URCAD presenter Shirin Parsa, winner of the URCAD Selfie Contest in the category: Best Overall Selfie!
Shirin will receive a $100 gift card to the UMBC Bookstore!
Is it weird that Shirin has a cardboard cutout of Dr. Hrabowski in her house? Maybe. Is it odd that he’s missing an arm? Possibly. But she scored extra points for her creativity!
Best Selfie with a Family Member
Congratulations to Cean’e Batten, the URCAD Selfie Contest winner in the category: Best Selfie- With a Family Member! Cean’e is a sophomore, studying Environmental Science at UMBC. She and her dog, Honey logged in to URCAD Online to check out the keynote speech by Dr. Keisha John (’03). See photo.
She will receive a $50 gift card to the UMBC Bookstore!
I am affiliated with LSAMP, and was just recently accepted into the McNair Scholar’s Program! I attended URCAD because I really enjoy learning about the different research my peers have done. URCAD not only allows me to learn new things from my peers, but it also encourages me to become more connected to the STEM community at UMBC. While I did not present research this year, as a Doris Duke Conservation Scholar of UCSC, a member of the LSAMP community, a McNair Scholar, and a student researcher (currently under guidance of Dr. Chris Hawn), you should definitely look out for research from me in the future!
Best Selfie- Making of a VoiceThread Presentation
Congratulations to URCAD presenter Annie Schuster and her “lab” assistants, winners of the URCAD Selfie Contest in the category: Best Selfie- Making of a VoiceThread Presentation!
Annie will receive a $50 gift card to the UMBC Bookstore!
I had to convert my poster to a digital format for URCAD Online, so I posed with the “real thing.” I joked to my friends that I couldn’t have done it without the support of my furry friends! The awesome dog on the left is my dog, Stella. She’s also the winner of the UMBC 2019 Puppy Parade where she won for her “Lab” Assistant science costume. Also pictured, her best friend Chip, the UMBC police dog.
Best selfie with mentor
Congratulations to URCAD presenter and URA Scholar, Hye-Jin Park, winner of the URCAD Selfie Contest in the category: Best Selfie with a mentor!
Hye-Jin will receive a $50 gift card to the UMBC Bookstore!
Hye-Jin’s mentor, Dr. Charissa Cheah (Psychology) brought the UMBC spirit with her UMBC swag! Now, Hye-Jin can use her prize to buy more UMBC apparel, graduation swag, or textbooks at the UMBC Bookstore!
